Using this site

The short version, in plain words.

The Discover experience

Choosing cards, reading them and thinking about the questions happens only in your browser. We don't record which cards you pick, and we never ask you to write down or submit personal reflections.

Forms you choose to send

If you use the contact, updates or card-review forms, we receive what you type — such as your name, email address and message. We use it to reply, to send updates if you asked for them, and to improve the cards.

Who sees it

Only the small founding team. We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with advertisers.

Updates are optional

We only email updates if you tick the box asking for them. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Removing your details

Email hello@thechangebetweenus.com or use the contact form and we'll delete what you've sent.

Full Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Between Us Labs, LLC, a California limited liability company doing business as The Change Between Us ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you visit thechangebetweenus.com, use the Discover experience, contact us, or buy or use our card decks and companion app (together, the "Services").

2. Information you give us

  • Contact and inquiry forms: name, email address, organization, role and your message.
  • Development updates: your email address and your consent to receive updates.
  • Card feedback and reviews: your ratings and comments, and any contact details you choose to include.
  • Purchases (when available): name, shipping and billing address, email, phone and order details. Payment card details are handled directly by our payment provider and are never stored by us.

Please don't send us health information or details about other people that you don't need to share.

3. Information collected automatically

When you visit the site we and our analytics provider automatically collect standard technical information: pages viewed, time on page, referring website, approximate location (city/region derived from IP address), browser, device type and operating system.

Cards you draw in Discover stay in your browser and are not sent to us.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar identifiers. We do not use advertising cookies or sell data for targeted advertising.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Our site does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals, but we honor Global Privacy Control signals where required by law.

5. How we use information

  • To respond to inquiries and provide the Services.
  • To send development updates you asked for.
  • To process and ship orders and provide customer support.
  • To measure and improve the site, cards and app.
  • To protect the security of the Services and comply with law.

6. How we share information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Services — website hosting and database, analytics (Google), email delivery, and, when available, payment processing and shipping. They may use it only to provide services to us.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, under confidentiality duties.
  • Authorities, when required by law or to protect rights, safety and property.
  • A successor business, if we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.

7. How long we keep it

We keep inquiry and update information while we are in contact with you or until you ask us to delete it. Order records are kept as long as needed for tax, accounting and legal purposes. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings (no longer than 14 months).

8. Your rights and choices

You may ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to opt out of updates at any time. Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Virginia or other US states), you may have additional rights, including to know what we collect and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share it for cross-context advertising.

To make a request, email hello@thechangebetweenus.com or use our contact form. We will respond within the time required by law and will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We may need to verify your identity first.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections and restricted access to stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children

The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Not a health service

The Change Between Us provides tools for reflection and conversation. It is not a healthcare provider, and information you send us is not a medical or therapy record.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new effective date, and for significant changes we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
