For professionals

A starting point for the conversation

For therapists, counselors, social workers, care managers and others who support caregivers, older adults and families.

Possible uses

Ways the cards can fit your work

Opening a session

Let a client choose a card that feels familiar. It often surfaces the real topic faster than a direct question.

Between sessions

Send a card home as a reflection prompt, or as preparation for a hard family conversation.

Family & care meetings

Give everyone at the table shared, neutral language — so it's about the card, not about blame.

Support groups

Use a Scenario card as a common starting point that lets each person answer at their own depth.

Discovery First

Helping each person find the right level of support

People often arrive unsure what the problem is, unable to put it into words, or not ready to ask. The cards are designed to help with that first step — on their own, alongside therapy, or used directly with clients.
Diagram: barriers to seeking help lead to CBU Discovery First (discover, express, connect, practice), which leads to self-guided action, therapy enhanced by CBU, or professional-led support with CBU used directly with clients.

The Change Between Us is not a therapeutic platform. It's a set of tools to assist individuals and the professionals who support them.

From therapists who've reviewed the relationship deck

In their words

The cards make it safe for people who have a harder time naturally talking about their feelings or pulling themselves out of the mire of the relationship problems.

Therapist

I love that it will give clients a way to role play naturally. That allows them to discuss what's going on without it being necessarily about them. It's about the cards.
